User_Meeting_hero_image.jpgThe Australian Synchrotron invites you to attend the annual synchrotron ‘User Meeting’ 2013, to be held November 21 and 22, at the National Centre of Synchrotron Science.

The User Meeting provides an opportunity for synchrotron users to showcase their research, to the user community, beamline scientists and potential new users.  Our user community has grown to more than 4000 registered users with expertise across all areas of physical and biological sciences, technology and industry – a list which is growing by over 600 users, year on year.

The popular event is also a rare chance to network with some of Australia’s leading scientists, meet beamline scientists, and get up-to-date with the latest developments at the Synchrotron, including major upgrades on the Imaging and Medical Beamline (IMBL).

This year’s event program includes themes such as Medical Imaging, Earth and Environment and Surface Science, with an addition of an industry-focussed session on the second day. This session will demonstrate and discuss synchrotron techniques frequently applied to industrial investigations in sectors such as food technology, mineral processing and manufacturing.

Plenary speakers for 2013 include:

  • Prof Ted Baker, Research Group Leader-Structural Biology, The University of Auckland
  • Dr Harald Reichert, Director of Research, European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), Grenoble France
  • Prof Brian Stephenson, Associate Laboratory Director, APS, Argonne National Laboratory, USA

A draft program is now available, and abstract submissions are open. Submissions close 17 September.

We encourage our user community to reach out to potential new users, and take the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits synchrotron techniques and the diversity of its applications, to a new audience.

Abstract submissions, registrations, and further event details can be found at the User Meeting event page
